Does God demand the death for sin? Did He institute a death penalty to punish those who transgress Him? Did Jesus die to satisfy His Father's death penalty? If this were true then God killed His own Son to satisfy His death decree and this is suppose to cause you to love Him. Do you detect a problem here?

This book arose at a point where I struggled to find out the true real identity of God, the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I was really in doubt somehow on the sonship of Jesus Christ. This was as a result of how Jesus is known differently: Muslims would know Him as a prophet, Indians as one of many gods they have, Jehovah Witnesses’ as the highest of the created angels, Unitarians as just a man, Catholics as the second god of Trinity etc. However, I learnt that to know the true identity of God and His Son, I cannot by myself find out God, I should allow Him tell me who He is. And this is due to our carnal mind nature (Rom 8:7). God is not what I think He is, but what He says He is (1Cor 8:6).

"How do you read?" is an amazing book written by Daniel Bernhardt on Biblical rules of interpretation. It is based on the rules given to us through William Miller for proper understanding of the word of God when all the pieces are put together. In as much as we tend to say that we take the Bible as it reads, most of the time we read and interpret it according to our own thoughts, and therefore this will only lead us to wrong conclusions which miss the original meaning.
